„We are the Band from the Chocolate Land, we are the pride of Switzerland“. These truthful words let us think of an egocentrical band. And thats what Jesus and the Gurus make us believe with their new cd „Blood, Sweat and Tears“. Jesus and the Gurus bring a new musical direction to their fans. Harder, louder, even more cynical and aggressive.
A mixture of industrial (like „Einstürzende Neubauten – Test Dep.“), metal (Ministry, Rammstein) and harsh-electro (Feindflug, NIN) melt to a storm of noise, a machinery of apocalypse. Also known as sound, their songs are the weapons of mankind. Jesus and the Gurus are as ironical and cynical as never before. The result of this statement is to be heard in their lyrics. They still speak of all the themes unspoken.

Biography:

Jesus and the Gurus, formed in 1994, is one of the earliest Gothic-Industrial Band still active in Switzerland. During the years, Jesus and the Gurus has gained cult-status. Many live-appearances throughout Europe brought them many fanatic fans and probably as many enemies.

Jesus and the Gurus developed their own unique homogenous style of sound: industrial metal joining bombastic neofolk meets dark gothic – spiced up with a shot of electronics. A brutal fist pushed into the stomach of the harmony-spoiled gothic-scene.
Lyrics of the exceptional band are pumped with cynism, sarcasm and rebellion against mankind. Jesus and the Gurus perceive themselves as mirror our our own fears. Thus, they draw attention by media like TV3, StarTV or VOX and came into much trouble. Having misunderstood the mission of the band totally, media marked Jesus and the Gurus as fetish-satanic musicians or Nazi’s. The uncomfortable, disturbing topics and tabus most likely overloaded the dumb rainbow-press.
The excentric band consists of three strong personalities – professional musicians and perfomancers: Actor Son ov David (vocals), studio musician Tom Alien (guitars) and artist Gabriell M.M. (electronics). They are supported for live-shows by various guest musicians and performance-artists.

Jesus and the Gurus play for a broadspectrum audience and excite with a diversity of show elements and freak-shows. They can be met on fetish-, techno-, industrial-, metal- and gothic-events as well as occupied houses...basically everywhere there show is wanted ... and where it is often regreted afterwards. Many times they occupied the stages of wave-gothic-meeting. In 2008 Jesus and the Gurus played a fulminant show at the Waregem-Gothic-Festival in Belgium.
Jesus and the Gurus fired on human moral with their own CD-productions. In 2003 they signed a label-contract with German Fearsection-Label and released two albums: „Hammering on the gates of heaven“ and „Satans little helpers“. In 2006 they moved to reknowned German Black Rain Label and released their CD „King ov Salò“. Finally, their new opus „Blood, Sweat and Tears“ will come to light in January 2009.
